Brain Tumor Support Group

For brain tumor patients and their families

What: This is a support and psycho-educational group for brain tumor patients and their loved ones.
When : The group meets on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month from 12:00-1:30PM, except on holidays.

Brain Tumor Support Group -- Lahey Clinic

For brain tumor patients and their families

What : This is a support and psycho-educational group for brain tumor patients and their loved ones.
When : The group meets on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month from 7:00PM to 9:00PM, except holidays

: Room 5C-51, 5th floor, Central Clinic Conference Room at the Lahey Clinic, 40 Mall Rd., in Burlington.

Breast Cancer Support Group

For patients currently in treatment

What: This is a free educational and supportive group for patients presently in treatment for breast cancer. The group will provide a forum for members to openly discuss their concerns related to diagnosis and treatment. Additionally, guest speakers will provide information on relevant topics.

This is a closed group and requires an intake interview.

This group is organized by the Social Service Department.


Metastatic Breast Cancer Support Group

This is a group for individuals living with metastatic breast cancer.

What: This is a free ongoing support group for individuals living with metastatic breast cancer. The group will provide an opportunity for participants to discuss their concerns and connect with others in similar situations.

Gynecological Cancer Support Group

For women living with ovarian, endometrial and cervical cancer

What : A support group for women with gynecological cancer.

Women's Head and Neck Surgical Group

Support for people with oral, head and neck cancers

What : A drop-in support group for women who have had surgeries on the face, head, neck, or mouth. It includes patients who have trouble swallowing, eating, speaking, or who have facial difference.

: This group meets the 3rd Tuesday of each month

Support for people with oral, head and neck cancers

What : It's a support group for people with oral, head, and neck cancer.
When
: This group meets one Tuesday evening a month, September-June (no meeting in December)

This group is a local chapter of the national group Support for People with Oral, Head, and Neck Cancer.


Lung and Esophageal Cancer Support Group

Drop-in support group for those living with lung or esophageal cancer, mesothelioma, and thymoma.

What : A drop-in support group for all patients with lung cancer, also open to patients with other thoracic cancers (e.g., esophageal cancer, mesothelioma, thymoma). The group's purpose is to provide a place for patients to be supported as they cope with the demands of diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Light refreshments and parking validation will be provided.

CNS Lymphoma Support GroupFor MGH adult in-patient chemo-therapy patients

What : This is an open, drop-in discussion oriented group for in-patients who come to MGH for methotrexate/chemo-therapy. This group is free of charge. Attendees must be coming to MGH for in-patient chemo-therapyWhen : Meets every Wednesday from 1:30 - 2:30 PM

Multiple Myeloma Support Group

Support and education for people with multiple myeloma

What : A drop-in support group that combines patient education with support. Please call prior to attending your first meeting.
When: This group meets from 1:00-3:00 PM on alternating months (please call for upcoming dates).

For patients diagnosed with prostate cancer.

What : This is an ongoing support and educational group for patients with prostate cancer. Light refreshments are served. Pre-registration is required.

Prostate Cancer Support Group - Proton Beam Radiation

For patients with prostate cancer who are being treated with proton beam radiation.

What : This is an ongoing drop-in support and educational group for patients who are receiving proton beam radiation. Light Refreshments are served.

Parents of Teens with Cancer

For parents of teenagers who are being treated for cancer.

What : Parents of Teens with Cancer is a monthly program for parents to discuss concerns that are specific to those with a teen undergoing cancer treatment. This group coincides with the Teens with Cancer Group; however it is not necessary for the teen to be participating in the teen group. All parents are welcome.

Children and Cancer: A Program for Parents

For parents whose children are being treated for cancer.

What : An educational and support program for parents whose children are being treated for cancer. Topics will vary, and guest speakers are included. Some recent programs have included discussions about parenting, school re-entry after a cancer diagnosis, current topics in research, survivorship and complementary therapies. A light dinner and parking are included.

For family and friends of patients with a cancer diagnosis

What : A drop-in support group*

: This group is run in 2-month “semesters,” meeting once a week for an hour and a half. Days and meeting time are subject to change per semester, as needed.

Young Adult Cancer Support Group

 A support group for individuals 20-40 years old, currently being treated for cancer

What : This is a membership only support group for men and women ages 20-40, who are currently being treated for cancer. This is a closed group, with intake required.
When
: The group meets twice monthly, on the second and fourth Thursday of each month from 4:00-5:00PM. Please call for an intake and information about the start date of the group or to put your name on a list for future groups.

: MGH Cancer Resource Room, located in the Yawkey building, 8th floor.
