Contact: Marc Bolduc, LICSW 617-726-6185
Organized by the West End Clinic |
This is a time limited mixed gender group for adults aged 25 to 65 who have desire to be abstinent from substances, are in their first year of sobriety, and are trying to repair the negative impact of substances on their lives. The goals of this group are to help individuals achieve and sustain a substance-free lifestyle, improve their overall functioning, and reduce relapse. This group looks to empower the members in the change process as their capacity to understand their issues/circumstances increases. Group relationships play an important role as members attempt to look at their situation critically, problem-solve, change negative behaviors, and learn new positive behaviors. Members can support each other, confront each other, and provide suggestions and ideas from their own fund of experiences. Growth and change occurs through their interactions and these relationships become a vehicle for coping with life transitions, restoring diminished self-concept, and maximizing strengths while promoting health.
Membership of the group will be open and members will remain in the group for one year.

Group for adults aged 25-65 that focuses on the mid to late themes/phases of recovery. |
Contact: Marc Bolduc, LICSW, CADAC II 617-726-6185
Organized by the West End Clinic |
This is an open ended mixed gender group for adults aged 25 to 65 that focuses on the mid to late themes/phases of recovery. The goals of this group are to expand coping capacity, enhance performance, and improve relationships. This is accomplished by promoting self understanding, psychological growth, emotional healing, and true intimacy. The group provides support, structure, and interactional opportunities to experience honesty, pride, spontaneity, acceptance, compromise, and uncertainty. This learning can help the group to exercise its power, make decisions, and develop intentions that support the preferences that are envisioned. Members examine the effect that their behavior has on others and in turn how their behavior affects them in addition to exploring the cultural and societal forces that have contributed to their substance abuse. Members work to understand how they defend and react by confronting their attitudes, interpersonal style, communicate needs and express feelings directly and immediately. The role of personal responsibility, informed motivation, and mobilizing resources is viewed as a critical aspect of intentional change as a tool for renewal and recovery.
Membership of the group will be open and members can remain in the group until the problems that brought them to group are resolved.
